Since her birth in American in 1940, Pat has bred, kenneled, showed and trained a variety of dogs, so when she moved to England and became disillusioned with her local dog obedience club, she instead became a member of Hammersmith Dog Training Club and has now been Chairman and Chief trainer for over twenty years.
A guest instructor at Terry Ryan's Legacy Camp in USA, she has judged all levels of obedience at Companion Dog Shows, as well as stewarded at open and championship shows throughout America, and regularly conducts all levels of the KCGCT in the South of England. She has worked with Dog Aid, turning pets into helpers for the disabled, and instructed at the Canine Film Academy, the UK's largest animal agency providing trained animals for film and advertising.
She devised training sequences, selected dogs and directed photography in successive Bruce Fogle books; RSPCA (ASPCA) Dog Training Manual (now published in 43 countries), plus handbooks on GSD/Labs/Golden Retrievers/Poodles/Cockers/Dachshunds, and co-authored The New Complete Dog Training Manual in 2002.
Belonging to several Dog Training/Behaviour organizations, including The British Institute of Professional Dog Trainers, Anglo-American Dog Training, National Association of Dog Obedience Instructors (USA), APDT (no 392), The Pet Dog Instructors of Europe, the Kennel Club Accreditation Scheme for Instructors in Dog Training and Behavior Modification, Pat has also been Secretary of the UK Registry of Canine Behaviourists since 1996, and is a Bach Foundation Registered Practitioner for both humans and animals. |
